What's Next for America? - Part 2 By: Vince Aquilino, 11/21/2001 http://prophecyandcurrentevents.com/thglory "Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. "And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it." (ZEC 12:2-3) On Monday, November 19th, U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell delivered a message in Louisville, Kentucky -- It was reported to be representative of the Bush Administration's Middle East position. It included statements to the
following:
"But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, "Peace and safety!" then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape." (1 Thes 5:1-3) So in these current events we can see movement towards the Day of the Lord and the return of Jesus Christ in Judgement and Glory. As we have discussed many times, the United States must fall from world dominance to allow the United States of Europe, the revived Roman Empire and ultimate seat of anti-christ power to rise. For those who have been readers of this site (sight), you know the signs that a nation is being judged and how America fulfills the pattern as God is pleading with America for repentance. In the October 3rd article, http://www.prophecyandcurrentevents.com/thglory/up100301.htm - Emergency - Is America in Harm's Way?, we warned about America's movement toward the Arab world and away from the support of Israel. In the October 31st article, http://www.prophecyandcurrentevents.com/thglory/up103101.htm, we discussed "What's Next for America." In the series of articles entitled "What in Heaven is Happening to America" http://prophecyandcurrentevents/thglory/america1.htm, we discussed America's fall from grace and the biblical signs of judgement. Clearly in the aftermath of September 11th, everyone has awakened to the possibility that God has withdrawn his hand of protection from America. In response to our grievous and continued national sins, such as abortion, the embracing of homosexuality by mainline churches, and national pride and self reliance apart from the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, God has begun to plead for repentance through increased natural and national disasters. For those of you who are not comfortable with categorizing the September 11th disasters as God's Judgement, then consider it a final warning to America. It has been clearly demonstrated by John McTernan's book ("God's Final Warning to America"- available at http://watch.org/catalog/) and others that God's warning judgements follow sin events. America is not exempt from God's redemptive chastisement ("God is no respecter of persons" - Acts 10:34b) and the events this Monday are a harbinger of additional judgement if national repentance is not forthcoming and that includes the way we treat the Jews (Gen 12:3). The wisest man in the world once noted: "That which has been is what will be, that which is done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun." (Ecc 1:9) In 1863 the United States was embroiled in a great civil war. On March 30, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln issued an historic Proclamation Appointing a National Day of Prayer & Fasting. As you read this proclamation, consider the state of the United States today and consider that "it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." (Hebrews 10:31) Please note that President Lincoln clearly saw the hand of God in the affairs of men as we strayed from His righteousness and also indicates the source of that departure from the righteousness of God (Highlighted portion). Ask yourself if the reasons noted by Lincoln for God's action against America are not the same as today. "Whereas, the Senate of the United States, devoutly recognizing the supreme authority and just government of the Almighty God in all the affairs of men and of nations has by a resolution requested the president to designate and set apart a day for national prayer and humiliation. And whereas, it is the duty of nations as well as of men to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God: to confess their sins and transgressions in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon: and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord: And insomuch as we know that by His divine law nations, like individuals, are subjected to punishments and chastisements in this world, may we not justly fear that the awful calamity of civil war which now desolates the land may be but a punishment inflicted upon us for our presumptuous sins, to the needful end of our national reformation as a whole people? We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven. We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth, and power as no other nation has ever grown; but we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious land, which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God who made us: It behooves us then, to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness. All this being done in sincerity and truth, let us then rest humbly in the hope authorized by the divine teachings, that the united cry of the nation will be heard on high, and answered with blessings no less than the pardon of our national sins, and the restoration of our now divided and suffering country to its former happy condition of unity and peace." Consider God's warning to Nineveh: "Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and preach to it the message that I tell you." So Jonah arose and went to Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceedingly great city, a three-day journey in extent. And Jonah began to enter the city on the first day's walk. Then he cried out and said, "Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!" So the people of Nineveh believed God, proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them." (Jonah 3:2-5) The people, from the national leadership down did repent, and God relented. Is America repenting? Repentance means to turn around and stop doing what you were sinfully doing before. Has America turned from the sin of abortion? Has the American Church taken a stand against the sin of homosexuality (God loves the person, but he hates the sin) or has it embraced it as an acceptable lifestyle? Is God now allowed in the public schools and government structures which reflect the national will of the people? In Amos we find that "Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets". (Amos 3:7) On November 15th, Chuck Pierce (http://www.glory-of-zion.org/news.htm) gave a prophetic word. Remember the 40 days God gave Nineveh to repent before utter destruction came. "40 days" is mentioned three times in this word. There is also a revelation that the enemy will try to extract a compromise from the nation's leaders. Were the statements this Monday by Secretary of State Powell the manifestation of that compromise? "There is going to be a force that tries to discourage this nation in the next several weeks. Do not allow this force to discourage you. The voice of the enemy is going to be so discouraging and threatening against My purpose in this nation. The words of the enemy will threaten God's people and the civil leaders of this land and make us want to accept a compromise. Before this threat comes into this nation, we must take our stand and be unmovable so this nation does not make a wrong alignment or compromise. A confrontation is mounting in
the heavens. Begin to prepare a sacrifice of worship to Me that will
overcome the enemy's plan. From your worship I am beginning to mount up
a sacrifice of life that can overcome death. A confrontation is on its
way. I would have you stand before Me the next 40 days. However, take
your stand. There is a present gap that the enemy has access to. There
are actually three gaps. I will reveal these gaps if My people will
listen, and then I will fill the gaps with My For the enemy has determined
for this land and My people to scatter. If My covenant people scatter,
then they can no longer stand and support My covenant purposes and
desolation will come to this land. If you will stand, there will be an
extension of My grace for 15 years upon this land. The three-fold cord
of evil that would have come in against My Covenant will now be
exposed. I will expose a network that is hiding in Lebanon. I will
expose that which is being plotted in Iraq. I will |
