"The pro-Nazi grand mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin El Husseini, has
secretly 'escaped' from France, the French Press agency reported
Saturday night, but officials at the ministry of interior asserted
there was nothing clandestine about his departure"
"The press agency said officials started an inquiry to determine how
the mufti, one of the most ruthless and ambitious of Arab politicians,
had slipped out of the country. At the ministry, however, a
spokesman said the mufti never had been under arrest and was free to
come and go as he pleased"
"The news agency revealed no details other than that the mufti, an
arch-conspiritor and personal friend of Adolf Hitler, was headed for an
unknown. This, politician observers said, undoubtedly was the
Middle East, probably Saudi Arabia or Palestine."
"His arrival there, observers said, might touch the match to the
political tinder in Palestine. Haj Amin, although created 'mufti'
by a British high commissioner, is rabidly anti-British and anti-Jewish"

well. Moreover his influence extends into Trans-Jordan, Iraq,

strong personality, and is craftly as a fox"
"Most of his life, Husseini has made war on the Jews of
Palestine. Indeed in 1920, when his brother was grand mufti, he
fled to Trans-Jordan after being sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for
his part in anti-Jewish riots." |

quoted by the Arabic newspaper Aghbar el Yom last night as saying that
he came to Egypt after fleeing exile in Paris because 'it is the heart
of the Arab movement and the seat of the Arab League' "
"He denied in the reported interview that he ever worked for a foreign
country."
" 'I worked for the independence of Syria, Palestine, the Lebanon, Iraq
and the other Arab countries,' the mufti was quoted as saying, 'I don't
hate the British, I don't hate the Americans. I don't even hate the
Jews.' "
Uncle Haj Idi Amin Offendsme has no moral scruples against lying to
