The European Union, at a summit meeting, positioned itself squarely against the will of G-D by betraying the millions of Jews now living in Israel! The 15 nation union made a declaration against Israel, throwing strong support to Arafat and the Palestinians for an independent state by releasing the following pronouncement:

1. The Palestinians have a "right to self-determination,"

2. There should be a limited extension of one year for final status of the so called "negotiations," and

3. The Palestinian right to a state should "not be subject to any veto" by Israeli interests.

These summit statements were specifically designed to placate PA terrorist Yasser Arafat.

Why would the EU make such a declaration?

Lets see what various Palestinians have said.

"Any delay (of the May 4 Palestinian state announcement) would be in return for international guarantees of recognition of a future state."Yasser Arafat

"Arafat referred to some proposals that are being floated to possibly delay the declaration of the state for a certain period of time in return of American, European and Arab guarantees, such as a conditional delay in return for recognition of the state when it is declared."Abdel-Qarim

Arafat has manipulated the EU just as he has so cleverly deceived and manipulated other world leaders into believing that the PA really wants peace. Of course they do, but they define peace as the total elimination of Israel.

The EU took Arafat's bait. They were told by Arafat that in exchange for their ringing endorsement of an ultimate PA state, he would forego his declared intention to proclaim a Palestinian state on May 4, the date the interim Oslo Accords expire.

That has been his scheme all along.

The EU's endorsement of Palestinian statehood gives Arafat the acceptable political leverage he needs to climb down from his pledge to the Palestinian people to unilaterally declare a state in May. Arafat has been seeking European support for Palestinian statehood in exchange for delaying the announcement...and he finally got it.

It is important that you understand the significance of the EU's shift in position. Previously, they had only voiced concern that the Palestinians had a right to self determination.

NOW the EU has changed their political stand, declaring their "readiness to consider the recognition of a Palestinian state in due course..."

Part of the anti-Israel, EU declaration reads:

"The EU countries re affirm the continuing and unqualified Palestinian right to self determination including the option of a state; look forward to the early fulfillment of this right; and appeal to the parties to strive in good faith for a negotiated solution on the basis of this right, which is not subject to any veto."

In plain English, the EU phrase that reads "not subject to any veto" means that if Israel and the PA do not reach agreement after all the negotiation, and the Palestinians still decide to declare statehood, Israel will not be able to veto that declaration.

But there is more...

"The EU expresses its conviction that the creation of a democratic, viable, and peaceful sovereign Palestinian state, on the basis of existing agreement and through negotiation, would be the best guarantee of Israel's security and Israel's acceptance as an equal partner in the region."

Nothing could be farther from the truth! Who are they to claim to know what is best for Israel's security? A Palestinian state will give Arafat a political and economic base to build a mighty military power. Arafat will use his new powers to try and erode Israel's territory until all Jews are gone from the Middle East.

The EU message to Israel and the world is clear..

"EUROPE WILL RECOGNIZE A PALESTINIAN STATE WITHIN ONE YEAR WITH EAST JERUSALEM AS ITS CAPITAL."

This is the most flagrant action that the EU has ever made against G-D's will for Israel. The Europeans leave no doubt that is Arafat declares a Palestinian state...they will recognize it.

With this open and unified EU stand, what incentive is there for the Palestinians to negotiate any concessions at all?
